Walking: stories and history? How not to love you? 🙂

We would like to share what we saw during our walk around Kiev - from the Chkalov square to the Golden Gate.

Let's start with the Chkalov square itself (Olesya Honchara street). Funny legend (maybe, it was not a legend either, and it’s very true :) : say, an elephant was once cooked in this park. The story is: an elephant died in the Kiev zoo, Whose skeleton did the Natural History Museum claim. But there was a little snag: it was not clear, how to separate elephant meat from its own bones. However, we all know, that nothing is impossible for people with intelligence: a huge vat of water was placed in the park, an unfortunate dead beast was placed in it, and cooked it for many days, putting firewood .... The aroma above the city center was appropriate - as when cooking a jerky 🙂 ... As a result, everything worked out, and the elephant skeleton was sent to its destination.

And in the Chkalov park there is one of the few surviving fountains, produced at the Kiev plant Termena. It even shows the installation date - 1900 year.

According to another legend, at the Theremen plant, a feisty swearing man named "Pharaoh" worked as a foreman. And so, once he left for a few days - either on vacation, whether on a business trip. These few days were enough, so that the factory workers come up with and implement a plan of "terrible" revenge - make adjustments to the image of a human face, from which water should flow, giving him a unique resemblance to the hated Pharaoh 🙂

And here's another! In the same place, Near the fountain.

See arrows, pointing up? It is a symbol of energy. Even then it was fashionable to build "according to Feng Shui" 🙂

I'm going to get the Potter… Here's another real castle with an almost suspension bridge. And passing… what is there… even passing by the building, you don’t think ....

Actually, bridge:

But such nice houses are on Chapaev Street, if you go from the Chkalov square to Yar. Vala.

And even some of the doors have survived almost intact.

And in the center of Kiev you can find hatches with the letter "yat", which was canceled in 1918 year

Another miracle, found in the most ordinary courtyard:

And of course, you cannot walk past the building on Yaroslavov Val street, 1. There is an erroneous version, that Baron Steingel lived in this house, man and steam locomotive. But we know, it is not so. And they wrote about the Steingel estate before - it is located on the territory of the current Institute of Orthopedics on the street. Vorovsky. And this building, despite winged demons, depicted on the facade, was built for a man with a very peaceful profession - he traded in vegetables and fruits in huge quantities.
