Victim
In this installation, the wall of a brick building turned into a grandiose canvas.. Even a quick glance at him allows you to understand, that it was built according to the laws of painting of the era of classicism — symmetrical composition with the main character in the center. Colors accentuate the roles of the heroes: the victim is highlighted in blue, doctors - white, police or other security forces - in yellow, and passive witnesses are colorful.
Interesting, that with classicism "Sacrifice" connects not only compositional construction and color, but also a narrative approach. The author does not show a single episode of a criminal chronicle, but passes a collision, which can be a cross-cutting scenario for different eras and circumstances. As well as textbook plots from the history of Ancient Rome on the canvases of French and German academics of the 19th century.
There are so many situations in life, when each of us is face to face before the blows of Destiny, and when no one can help — no doctors, neither the siloviki, neither society. Doctors and security officials have instructions with regulations, and sometimes - a banal unwillingness to do something. Well, society is, seemingly, understandable from history and sociology textbooks - suddenly turns into a crowd, in which no one wants to take responsibility. Then the person appears to be at the epicenter of a tornado.. And suddenly — short flash between life and death, and light, coming from above and from afar. From this angle, we see a grand chessboard or Go field..
Looking at work up close, the feeling of being in a game increases. Only who can explain its rules? Who knows, what will be the next move? Who, eventually, could be the next victim?
But the main question is still different.: whether the viewer will agree with the given set of roles? Is he ready to change the rules? Ready to face Fatum, which is not represented on the canvas, but whose presence is felt in his drama. Only then does he get a chance from a victim to turn into a hero and rewrite history..
